The Spirit of Volunteerism

Volunteers are at the heart of River Jordan Project. They give their hearts and time to improving lives of others.

At this time in history, non-profits are being asked to do more with less and to provide services to an every growing number of individuals and families in our communities. Therefore, we need our volunteers more than ever.

President Obama has always been a strong supporter of empowering ordinary people to do extraordinary things by improving their local communities through volunteer service. He asks how we, through both existing organizations and individual action, can take an active role in America’s economic recover and improve our fellow citizens’ lives through our volunteer service work.

The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act is about “connecting deeds to needs.” It enables us to serve in many areas where government cannot do it all.

Are we our brothers keepers? Yes. Collectively and corporately, we can make a difference in our communities one volunteer at a time.

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Do not wait for good things to happen for you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” – President Barrack Obama
